SEPTEMBER 2010
- Sept. 4: An Evening with the Painting.
- Sept. 4: Judi and Gary Vaillancourt of Vaillancourt Folk Art at the Museum Bookstore, Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. For details, call the Museum Bookstore at 717-334-2288.
- Sept. 4-5: Living History Programs at Gettysburg National Military Park
- Sept. 11-12: Living History Programs at Gettysburg National Military Park
- Sept. 18-19: World War II Weekend at Eisenhower National Historic Site. Featuring Allied soldiers, a German camp and World War II vintage jeeps and trucks, this annual event also features a USO Dance (held off site). Hours: Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. World War II Weekend activities are included with site admission to Eisenhower National Historic Site. Shuttle service and, weather permitting, on-site parking available this weekend only. Call 717-338-9114 for more information.
- Sept. 18-19: Living History Programs at Gettysburg National Military Park
- Sept. 22: Evening Lecture Series — 1860s News Coverage at the David Wills House. Living historians will explore what it was like to put together a newspaper in Civil War times. Learn how and why news was presented. Seating for the program is limited. Pre-registration is required and a fee is charged for the program. NOVEMBER 2010
- Nov. 1-30: Special Election at the David Wills House. The David Wills House Museum will host an interactive election throughout the month of November. Visitors will be encouraged to cast a vote for their favorite 1860 presidential candidate. Tallies will be updated daily on the David Wills House website and on Facebook. - Nov. 6: John Scott Adams Seminar Series
- Nov. 11: Community Appreciation Day for Adams County, Pa. Residents at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center
- Nov. 19: 147th Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. An annual observation with memorial services in the Soldiers' National Cemetery at 10 a.m., preceded by a wreath-laying at 9:45 a.m. Sponsored by the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania, Gettysburg National Military Park and the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College.
- Nov. 19: An Evening with the Painting
- Nov. 19: Meet Edward Everett at the David Wills House. This program is designed to introduce visitors to the main speaker at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery and who delivered the "other" Gettysburg Address. Program free with paid admission. For information, visit the David Wills House website or call 866-486-5735.
- Nov. 20: Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremonies. An annual event held in conjunction with the Gettysburg Address anniversary. A parade of Civil War living history groups begins at 1 p.m. Sponsored by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. For infomration, call 717-259-6156.
