Battlefield Rehabilitation means returning the battlefield as closely as possible to its 1863 appearance, so visitors can have a better understanding of what happened here and come to understand the significance of this hallowed ground. To date, the Gettysburg Foundation has partnered with the National Park Service on the following battlefield-rehabilitation efforts:
- Utility line burial along Emmitsburg Road
- Utility line burial along Mummasburg Road
- National Tower demolition
- Copse of Trees restoration (along Cemetery Ridge)
- Historic fence line re-creation in Codori-Trostle, United States Avenue area
- Native tree and shrub purchase and replacement, Codori-Trostle area
- Soldiers National Cemetery tree trimming
- Culp’s Hill area tree trimming
- Peach Orchard rehabilitation
- Beginnings of Defense of Cemetery Hill rehabilitation — removal of modern intrusions
- Devil's Den utility line undergrounding and removal of modern intrusions
