Visiting Gettysburg. Our Country’s Common Ground.

From July 1 through 3, 1863, 165,000 soldiers clashed in battle at Gettysburg. Seven million bullets were fired. More than 51,000 soldiers became casualties, each fighting for his beliefs. And the tables turned in the Civil War, leading to one nation, indivisible.

Today, this place of historic bravery inspires nearly two million visitors a year. You are encouraged to become one of them.

To plan your visit, learn more about the Museum and Visitor Center, the Gettysburg Cyclorama painting experience and the new feature film, A New Birth of Freedom. Discover the sacred 6,000-acre Battlefield, with nearly 1,400 monuments and memorials. Plan to attend one of our many upcoming events. Or, if you are an educator, learn more about our special programs and tours for students, and find out how you can get more involved in this important historic landmark.
