Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree 2023

Oct 11, 2023

The Gettysburg Foundation is pleased to participate in the Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023. Best known as Adams County's annual day of giving, the Giving Spree provides the Adams County community the opportunity to come together in support of local nonprofit organizations. Last year’s Giving Spree raised over $3 million for the community.Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree 2023 graphic

All proceeds raised for the Gettysburg Foundation in the 2023 Giving Spree will be dedicated to the operation of the Children of Gettysburg 1863®, an intereactive childrens history museum, which bridges a critical gap recently seen in history education. As Gettysburg’s only museum designed exclusively for kids, Children of Gettysburg 1863® has quickly become a centerpiece of the Foundation’s education mission and a standard of historical education in the county.

The children’s history museum is Gettysburg’s family-friendly adventure that tells the engaging stories and experiences of children, teens and young adults who lived in the town of Gettysburg and the surrounding area during and after the Battle of Gettysburg. Designed for families and children, grades K-5, the interactive museum adventure takes visitors on a journey through galleries with interactive exhibits and experiences. Guests to Children of Gettysburg 1863® can experience engaging first-hand accounts from numerous young residents from 1863 featured throughout the museum, including William Bayly, Albertus McCreary, Sadie Bushman, Tillie Pierce and others. Special events, living history and educational programming take place on select dates throughout the year.

The Adams County Community Foundation's role is to connect donors to groups and organizations that match their charitable intentions. The Giving Spree is just one of the ways the Adams County Community Foundation facilitates this connection. Everyone in the community is encouraged to learn about our local nonprofits and support them during the Giving Spree. Giving Spree donors have four options for giving this year:

  1. Join the event live Thursday, Nov. 9 from 3 until 7 p.m. at the Gettysburg Area Middle School located at 37 Lefever Street, Gettysburg, Pa.
  2. Drop off gifts at the Gettysburg Area Middle School Nov. 9 between 3 and 7 p.m.
  3. Mail gifts early using the Donation Form to the Adams County Community Foundation, 25 South 4th Street, Gettysburg, Pa. 17325 to arrive by Nov. 9.
  4. Give online at ACCFGivingSpree.org anytime Nov. 9.

The Gettysburg Foundation encourages and invites Friends of Gettysburg and our supporters to participate by donating to the Gettysburg Foundation’s mission of education and preservation through the Giving Spree. The Gettysburg Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree alongside 101 other participating nonprofit organizations in our community.
