Gettysburg Foundation Announces Winter Hours for Children of Gettysburg 1863®

Children of Gettysburg 1863® will begin winter hours Oct. 15, 2025. During the winter season from mid-October through March, the children's history museum will be open Thursday through Sunday from Noon until 5 p.m. With the museum closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, beginning Oct. 15, the site's first day open and observing winter hours is Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025.

Timed tickets are issued for all museum adventures. Museum adventures start every 30 minutes from Noon, and the last museum adventure of the day begins at 4 p.m.

The children’s history museum is Gettysburg’s family-friendly adventure that tells the engaging stories and experiences of children, teens and young adults who lived in Gettysburg and the surrounding area during and after the Battle of Gettysburg. Designed for families and groups with children in grades K-5, the interactive museum adventure takes visitors on a journey through galleries with interactive exhibits and experiences. Visitors to Children of Gettysburg 1863® can experience engaging first-hand accounts from numerous young residents from 1863 featured throughout the museum, including William Bayly, Sadie Bushman, Albertus McCreary, Tillie Pierce, Mary Warren and Lydia Ziegler. Special events, living history and educational programming take place on select dates throughout the year.

Located at 451 Baltimore Street in downtown Gettysburg in the historic Rupp HouseTM, Children of Gettysburg 1863® will have winter hours in effect through March 31, 2026.
