The Gettysburg Foundation Welcomes New President and CEO Jaclyn Spainhour

The Gettysburg Foundation is excited to welcome Jaclyn (Jackie) Spainhour as its new President and CEO. A dynamic leader in the nonprofit sector with a deep passion for history, preservation and public engagement, Jackie brings extensive experience in managing cultural institutions, enhancing outreach and cultivating meaningful connections.
Jackie joins the Foundation from the Historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C., where she served as President and guided a nationally recognized site that combines history, remembrance and community engagement. Under her leadership, the cemetery initiated innovative programs, strengthened partnerships and broadened its donor base—all while ensuring the preservation of this unique and historic landmark.
As a Certified Nonprofit Professional and Certified Fundraising Executive, Jackie is a strategic thinker, a strong advocate for accessibility in history education and a natural relationship builder. Throughout her career, she has worked with historic sites and museums, managed large-scale fundraising initiatives and created programs that present history in engaging and meaningful ways. Additionally, she authored "Museums and Millennials: Engaging the Coveted Patron Generation" and frequently speaks on nonprofit leadership and audience development.
As Jackie steps into her role at the Gettysburg Foundation, she is eager to collaborate with staff, partners and the Gettysburg community to further the Foundation’s mission of preservation, education and engagement.

I am honored to join the Foundation in sharing this history with new generations and ensuring that every visitor, regardless of their background, finds meaning in this place. Jackie’s leadership arrives at an exciting time for the Gettysburg Foundation, which continues to improve visitor experiences, strengthen its partnership with the National Park Service and broaden educational programs that link the lessons of the past to today’s challenges.
